Vanessa aka Ursula from
Disney's The Little Mermaid
Why Vanessa?
This cosplay couple was born from a desire of Haru.
After she commissioned the Ariel's cosplay, she has asked me to keep her company with another character, always drawn by a beautifully animated Disney film, "The Little Mermaid".
Even if she appears for only a few minutes, Ursula turned into a human being to seduce Prince Eric was the perfect character to accompany Ariel, and obviously not with the wedding dress, but wearing the blue dress of her first appearance on the beach.
While we were organized to bring this couple to a fair, due to some mishap we ended up making a private photoshoot.
After a thousand delays and incidents along the way so here I am in the shoes of the nasty Vanessa.
The Costume
Vanessa's dress is extremely simple, consisting of a bodice and a skirt, all made of cotton.
The bodice has a square neckline, an edged waist on front and is sleeveless; on the chest has an inverted triangle pattern, closed by crossed laces.
The skirt is a half wheel, with a fold in the front center.
The Props
The shell that Vanessa brings on the neck was very difficult to find!
Fortunately, I visited an exhibition entirely dedicated to minerals where I managed to get one virtually identical to the original !
Another difficulty was to obliterate a hole to string a cord that allowed me to put it on my neck.
Alone I would not even know where to begin, I must thank a friend who, armed with a LOT of patience has found a way to do it! ^^
Conclusion
Ariel dress has been ready since October 2008 and since then we have been seeking for an opportunity to bring this couple to a cosplay event.
For one reason or another, however, we always had to postpone it or replace it with other projects.
Since we did not want to surrender we organized for this lakeside private photoshoot. (in the absence of a sea we opted for fresh water .^^)
After Snow White and Mulan, still a Disney-world cosplay: will it be the last?
Who knows ... ;)
